The Global Leisure Survey (GLS) is an evolving project designed to provide a guide to information on leisure participation in as many countries as possible. It builds on the publication Free Time and Leisure Participation: International Perspectives (CABI Publishing, 2005, ISBN 9781 84593 4538), which includes chapters on 15 countries (Australia, Canada, Finland, France, Germany, Great Britain, Hong Kong, Israel, Japan, Netherlands, New Zealand, Poland, Russia, Spain, USA). Each country chapter contains details and summaries of time-use surveys and participation surveys in leisure, sport, tourism and the arts in that country. The aim of GLS is to update this material and widen the scope to include other countries. The country-tabs to the right contain references to the chapter in Free Time and Leisure Participation and to sources of more up-to-date information. They will be added to from time to time.
Individuals interested in becoming involved in the project by contributing material on individual countries should, in the first place, contact Tony.Veal@uts.edu.au.
